With over 12 years of experience, I previously served in the elected capacity of Clerk of Courts working with County, State, and Federal elected officials. I have developed and implemented policies that affect the everyday lives of citizens of Westmoreland County. I have been appointed to the criminal justice task force by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and my most recent role is Warden at Westmoreland County Prison.
Because of my professional experience, I excel in the classroom teaching criminal justice courses. As an instructor, I share my expertise in the field and help students apply course concepts to everyday scenarios. To help students develop and assess arguments, I often task small groups with the challenge of making the best case they can for a particular view. The class discussions that follow involve interaction between groups who have often reached quite a different consensus, which provides further opportunity for students to share their personal views and engage in friendly criticism and debate.
I am also experienced in curriculum development and redesigning and updating courses. My passion lies in creating course content that helps students understand criminology and how to protect our community.
