Enhancing Rehabilitation in Jails and Prisons

One of the main goals of the criminal justice  system is rehabilitation and this can be  achieved through a variety of different  programs. One method used to reduce violent  offending is by using the Risk Need Responsivity  principle, which has been proven to help reduce  recidivism. The Risk Needs Responsivity model is a  theoretically and empirically informed approach to  offender management (Vose et al., 2020).

Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Special Populations

 Abstract 

The author discusses various special populations that exist within the criminal justice system and how cognitive intervention programs can be developed and implemented into treatment programs. Special populations such as sex offenders, females, juveniles, and offenders that have substance abuse disorders are discussed within the realm of development and implementation of cognitive treatment programs.  The offender needs to be presented with the correct treatment program so that when they are released from confinement or community supervision, that they will be successful and remain free of criminal activity.
